- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆September 19, 2019, by Lara DolinPoor, poor Chapel Hill. This area is on the downswing big time. There are a ton of empty storefronts and honestly I felt just the tiniest bit unsafe there. Not enough to make me leave, but I was definitely keeping a closer watch of my surroundings than normal. Most stores there are cheap and the service is generally pretty rude or indifferent. I'm sure there are exceptions to that. I just didn't see any.
